Lakshmi Venu, daughter of TVS Motor CMD Venu Srinivasan, has been appointed as the vice president (global business development and strategy) for Sundaram Clayton Ltd, the holding company of TVS Motors. According to a company announcement, she would continue in her current role as director-strategy of the company.
In September last year, the company appointed the 28-year-old Lakshmi Venu as director (strategy), in the rank of a managing director, of the company. Lakshmi Venu is soon going to be daughter-in-law of Infosys co-founder and chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy.
“As Vice President of the global business development and strategy, she will be instrumental for developing strategy for global operations, administering USA operations of the SCL, an auto-component maker. She would also be involved in developing long term strategic plans and secure funding for larger strategic projects within the USA market for SCL,” the company said.
"With strong growth plants, the company has been looking for opportunities to expand further its business in the domestic and international front. In order to achieve this objective, the board decided to confer certain additional duties and responsibilities upon Lakshmi Venu including exploring business opportunities and planning on the domestic and international front," it said.
She was co-opted as an additional director of Sundaram Clayton Ltd by the company's board on March 22, 2010 and also as director-strategy in the rank of a managing director for five years.
