Manoj Kohli continues to lead all non-telecom business of Bharti

Kohli resigned from board of Bharti Airtel as a non-executive director, marking his formal exit from telecom business

Bharti Enterprises managing director Manoj Kohli, who resigned from the Board of Bharti Airtel few days back, continues to lead all the non-telecom businesses of the group such as retail, insurance, realty amongst others.

In a statement today, Bharti Airtel said, "We would like to clarify that Manoj (Kohli) continues to serve as the managing director of Bharti Enterprises. In this position, he leads the oversight of all non-telecom businesses of the group - retail, insurance, food and agri, realty and other, and works closely with the respective MD/CEOs. He is also responsible for Business Development and Corporate Affairs on a group wide basis."

On Wednesday, Kohli had resigned from the board of Bharti Airtel as a non-executive director, marking his formal exit from the telecom business of the group.

In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, Bharti Airtel said Shishir Priyadarshi has been appointed as an independent director.

Kohli had led telecom business of Bharti in various roles since 2002. He led Bharti Airtel's India operations for eight years during which the customer base grew from 1 million to 140 million before moving to Africa in 2010.He relinquished his position as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Airtel's International Business to take over as MD of Bharti Enterprises in April 2014.
