Max India to set up super-specialty hospital in Bihar

Analjeet Singh led Max India is planning to set up a super-specialty hospital in Bihar. The company is looking for land for its new project in Patna, the state capital.

"The change is positive and very encouraging in Bihar," Singh told Business Standard, "and we are very happy about it. This is why, we want to invest in the state. Max healthcare will be very interested to set up a world class hospital in Patna. We have convened the message to the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Right now, we are in talks with the state government about this." According to Singh, his company will invest Rs 300-350 crores in this project.

However, the company is yet to identify the land, where its forthcoming hospital would come up. Singh said, "It is a work in progress. We have asked for the state government's help on this issue and they have assured me their full support. Our officials will meet with the chief secretary in two months. We are very happy with state government officials' positive attitude. As soon as we acquire the land, we will begin the construction work."

He added, "The state has done a remarkable job on the law and order front. The situation of roads has also improved alot. Power is a major constraint, but we are assured by the chief minister himself that the situation will improve in couple of years. The bottom line is, Bihar is poised for growth."

Bihar does not have a super specialty hospital, and if this project comes through it will be a first in the state. Every year around 11,000 patients goes to metropolitans like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, etc for better healthcare.
