Unfazed by the downturn in avaition sector, low-fare regional carrier MDLR Airlines plans to expand its route network, connecting major cities across the country.

"Our operations on the low-fare, full service model has strengthened our presence as a scheduled regional operator in Northern India and this new flight is just a step forward in that direction," Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of MDLR Koustav M Dhar said as the airline launched a maiden six-day a week service between New Delhi and Lucknow.

Asked how new flights were being launched when the aviation sector was suffering major financial crisis, Dhar said, "The airline has withered the ongoing storm. Now we plan to consolidate and expand intelligently in the coming months."

Observing that MDLR planned to expand its services and would connect important cities in northern India, he said the Lucknow flight would be followed by non-stop flights between Chandigarh and Goa in the next forthnight "to give tourists and honeymooners of Punjab and Haryana the best connection at amazing prices."

For the Lucknow-Delhi flight, the Gurgaon-based airline has introduced a four-engined Avro jet aircraft with four business class and 70 economy seats with six flights a week both to and from these two major north Indian cities.
