Measures being taken to prevent corruption in NTPC: Scindia

Close to 20 corruption cases, including irregularities in the award of contract, have been reported in the last five years

Instances of corruption and irregularities involving embezzlement of funds in NTPC have been brought to the notice of government and various measures are being taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents, Parliament was informed.

Close to 20 corruption cases, including irregularities in the award of contract, have been reported in the last five years, Minister of State for Power Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a written reply to Lok Sabha yesterday.

The Minister said action has been taken in such cases.

He was replying to a query on whether alleged corruption and irregularities involving embezzlement of crores of rupees in NTPC have been brought to the notice of the government.

"To prevent recurrence of such incidents instructions or guidelines are issued and monitored by CVC (Central Vigilance Commission)," Scindia said.
