Mercer today said it has appointed Gaurav D Garg as the Region Leader, Growth Markets, of the company effective from September 12.
Garg will incorporate Mercer's businesses in 20 countries in Asia, Middle East, Africa and Latin America, where it has operations, the global consulting leader in talent, health, retirement and investments said in a statement.
Garg will serve as a member of the executive committee at Mercer and would report to Mercer President and CEO Julio A Portalatin.
"Gaurav has a well-established track record of setting up and running successful business operations in Asia and the Middle East, as well as managing global distribution," Portalatin said.
Garg has 26 years of international experience.
He would join Mercer from Chartis, the P&C insurance arm of the American International Group, Inc (AIG), where he was recently appointed as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata AIG General Insurance Company Ltd in India.
"His strong entrepreneurial skills and deep understanding of the dynamics of growth markets will be invaluable to driving profitable revenue expansion for Mercer in these countries," Portalatin said.
His educational qualifications include a Bachelors degree in Commerce and a Masters degree in Business Administration.
He is an alumnus of the Wharton Advanced Management Programme.
He is also a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India and a Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK.
