The portal has been launched in partnership with MobileNxt Teleservices Ltd, which operates 80 mobile retail stores across 12 states, company officials said.
"The online portal will complement offline stores and offer customers convenience of researching the product and receiving it on their doorsteps," MobileNxt Online Business Head Rahul Sethi told reporters here.
In the first year of operation, the portal targets to sell 50,000 handsets worth Rs 20 crores. "The online mobile retail market in India is about Rs 200 crore growing 100 per cent year on year. In the next two years we would be a Rs 100 crore company by cornering 25 per cent of the share," Sethi said.
The website offers the largest range of 250 handsets for sale online.The users can get on the website research handsets, compare different models, take advantage of competitive prices and also write their own product reviews.
For delivery, the company has tied up with Indian Post and will also use their 80 stores for logistics support. MobileNxt CEO Vijay Menon said the company will continue to focus on store presence and intends to have 500 stores by 2010. The two-year-old company posted sales of Rs 24 crores in the first year and Rs 35 crore in the second.
