He will also be part of the Asia Pacific Leadership Team and sit on the Mondelez International Leadership Council, said the company, formerly known as Kraft Foods.
Manu replaces Anand Kripalu, who led Mondelez business for eight years. Kripalu had decided to pursue an assignment outside the business. He will help Manu while transitioning the business.
Manu has extensive experience in the consumer goods industry, having worked in several international and growth markets in Asia Pacific, it said. His last assignment was as Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo India.
Mondelez International Executive VP and President, Asia Pacific and Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa Pradeep Pant said: "Manu comes to Mondelez International with extensive snacking experience and we look forward to him leading our India business - one of the most critical markets for Mondelez International globally."
Mondelez had revenue of USD 35 billion last year and has presence in 165 countries and is world leader in chocolate, biscuits, gum, candy, coffee and powdered beverages.
It has billion-dollar brands such as Cadbury, Cadbury Dairy Milk and Milka chocolate, Jacobs coffee, LU, Nabisco and Oreo biscuits, Tang powdered beverages and Trident gum under its portfolio.
