Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone (MPSEZ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for setting up dedicated automobile terminal with Nippon Yusen Kisha (NYK) of Japan and Norway-based ship liner WWL.
NYK, a leading auto terminal operator worldwide, has extensive fleet of Ro-Ro-ships, which offers regular sailing to form the major ports around the globe. And WWL has fleet of 60 pure car, truck carriers and Ro-Ro vassals for providing global, cost effective reliable ocean service, said a release issued by the MPSEZ.
MPSEZ is set to become hub for handling automobile due to its proximity to major auto manufacturers in Western and Northern India. Maruti Suzuki and Nissan will start their exporting operation to Europe using Mundra port from January next year, a release added.
