Naukri Job index shows 18% growth in hiring activities in Chennai

BPO/ITEs, Telecom, BFSI shows upward trend, while construction, engineering & insurance were down

The Naukri Job Speak index for Chennai in September 2015 shows 18% increase in the hiring activities in the city. The index was at 1513 in September 2015 as compared to 1282 in September 2014.

Among the key sectors, BPO/ITES showed a 27% increase in the hiring activity as well as Telecom registered a 30% growth over the same period.

Telecom and IT Software saw increase of 30% and 24% respectively in their hiring activities in September 2015 over September 2014. Other sectors like Auto saw a 20% increase in the hiring activity over the same period.

However, sectors such as Construction/Engineering and Insurance saw a dip of nine% in the same period.

Hiring of Accounting and BFSI professionals saw an increase of 14% and eight% each in September 2015 over September 2014. However a reverse trend was seen for the Engineering and Packaging professionals where the numbers went down by 11% and 39% respectively over the same period.
