Nestlé India is set to relaunch Maggi chicken noodles on Thursday, eight months after a nationwide ban on its flagship instant noodles.

The launch of Maggi’s second noodle variant after masala is in exclusive partnership with Snapdeal. The move comes amid litigation in the Supreme Court over the instant noodles’ quality.

The re-launch of Maggi’s masala variant in November saw supplies on Snapdeal getting sold within five minutes. The noodle variant was relaunched after it cleared two sets of quality tests in three government-accredited laboratories.

The latest relaunch comes in a ‘Chicken Lovers’ Kit’ on Snapdeal, which includes four packs and assorted gifts for Rs 120. To be eligible, consumers need to register on Snapdeal’s website before 11 pm on February 10.

The sale begins at 12 noon the next day. Maggi chicken packs will be available with grocers next week. Since the June 5 ban Nestlé has suffered considerable loss of business. The company posted a Rs 64-crore net loss, its first time in 17 years, in the June quarter. The September quarter saw sales dropping 32 per cent and revenue 60 per cent. Nestlé plans to bring back other Maggi variants soon. The company earlier sold nine variants of the instant noodles in India. According to sources, Nestlé is preparing for more relaunches in the next few months.

Nestlé will come out with advertising campaigns soon after the latest relaunch. With the Snapdeal offer, Nestlé has initiated a #ForTheLoveOfChicken campaign on Twitter and Facebook.
