State-owned iron ore miner NMDC Ltd has signed a contract with Bhel for providing a raw material handling system (RMHS) package to its upcoming three million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) integrated steel plant at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh.
The RMHS would be able to handle 10 Mtpa of raw material, catering to the different units of NMDC’s steel plant. In a press release, NMDC chairman and managing director Rana Som said the proposed steel plant would be the fastest moving steel project among all green field or brown field projects in the country.
Bhel chairman and managing director B P Rao said the Bhel ISG group at Bangalore was geared up to complete the job within the stipulated time of 30 months. Land acquisition for the steel plant had reportedly been completed in August 2010.
