Nokia on Monday launched its X series of smartphones, running on Google’s Android operating system. Priced at Rs 8,599, the X entry model starts selling from the day of the launch. The X+ and XL, the other two models also unveiled on February 24 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Spain), will be available in the country in two months, Nokia’s spokesperson said. With a four-inch display, the dual-sim X is powered by a 1-GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a 512-MB RAM.

The smartphone comes with four-GB internal storage, expandable up to 32 GB with microSD card. It boasts a 3-MP fixed-focus camera and a 1,500-mAh removable battery, which Nokia claims gives a talk time of 10.5 hours on 3G. The phone uses a highly customised version of Android 4.1.2, stripped of Google services and apps.
