The number of non-fatal accidents at factories across Gujarat has dropped from 8584 in 2000 to 2430 in 2010, says Sure Safety, a Vadodara-based industrial safety solution provider. The company cites the data spanning a decade from the Director Industrial Safety and Health, Labour and Employment Department of the Government of Gujarat. As per Sure Safety, the fall has taken place even as the number of registered factories has shot up to 36,179 from 26,454 during this decade and the number of employees has risen from 86,800 in 2000 to 13,17,634 in 2010.
