NTPC Q1 net down 16% at Rs 1,842 cr

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) today reported a 16 per cent decline in its net profit at Rs 1,841.89 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2010.

The company had a net profit of Rs 2,193.62 crore in the same period last fiscal, NTPC said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

However, the total income increased 5.87 per cent to Rs 13,529.42 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 12,778.96 crore in the same period last fiscal.

Shares of the company closed at Rs 201.45, down 0.17 per cent from previous close on the BSE.
