Power firms form JV for equipment testing facility

State-run power utilities NTPC, NHPC, PowerGrid and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) have entered into an agreement to set up a laboratory for testing electrical equipment in the country.

"NTPC, NHPC, PowerGrid and DVC have signed an agreement for incorporation of a JV company to set up an online high power indigenous test laboratory in the country to ensure testing of equipment as per international standards," an official statement said.

The JV agreement was signed by A K Chatterjee, Director (Technical) DVC, N K Sharma, Executive Director of NTPC, R S Mina, ED, NHPC, and H L Tayal, ED, PowerGrid, it said.
