Production was hit at Dr Reddy's Laboratories Srikakulam unit in Andhra Pradesh for the past 3-4 days as some workers are on a strike.
"There is no production at the unit as most of the employees and workers in all 13 production blocks are participating in the strike," a union leader representing the agitating workers told PTI.
When contacted a company spokesperson admitted that there has been loss of production. "Production got affected for the past 3 or 4 days. The production is made based out of orders. We cannot exactly quantify it (loss of production)," a DRL spokesperson said.
The unit, which manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients, has about 700 employees on its rolls besides about 300-350 contract workers.
Protests were triggered after the number of contract workers was scaled down to about 85 recently.
