As part of its endeavour to streamline the operations of its two Directorates- Directorate of Mines and Directorate of Geology as well as the 14 circle mining offices in Orissa, the steel & mines department has started an IT enabled project management unit (PMU).The IT PMU has been set up to serve as a single window facilitation centre for computerized implementation of Integrated Mines and Mineral Management System as part of a major e-governance initiative in the department.
The project was inaugurated by Raghunath Mohanty, the minister for steel & mines and industries at a workshop on ' Integrated Mines and Mineral Management System'. Manoj Ahuja, the state steel & mines secretary, Hari Har Panigrahy, special secretary (steel & mines) and S K Das, director (mines) were present on the occasion.
