Engineering and construction firm Punj Lloyd today said one of its subsidiaries has bagged a contract worth Rs 1,394 crore in Singapore.

The project involves construction of a hotel, villas, marine life park and water theme park for Resorts World Sentosa, a subsidiary of diversified business conglomerate Genting Group.

"Punj Lloyd Group subsidiary Sembawang Engineers and Constructors (Sembawang), Singapore, one of the leading engineering and construction companies in Southeast Asia and the Middle East and North Africa region, has clinched a major contract worth Rs 1,394 crore from Singapore's Resorts World Sentosa," the company said in a statement.

The project includes construction of the 374-room Equarius Hotel, a world-class spa, a cluster of 42 luxurious villas, the world's largest oceanarium spread over 46,000 square metres and a water theme park spread across 13,000 square metres.

Speaking about the contract, Punj Lloyd Group Chairman Atul Punj said: "This contract win reinforces our expertise, combined with our commitment to complete projects on time. We will continue expansion in high growth areas and will leverage our dynamism and speed to deliver landmark projects."

"This is our second contract with the iconic Resorts World Sentosa after the successful completion of a sub-structural works project at the resort in 2008," the President and CEO of Sembawang, Richard Grosvenor, said.

Resorts World Sentosa is Singapore's first integrated resort, comprising the region's first Universal Studios theme park, four hotels, a convention centre and Singapore's first casino, which opened its doors in the first quarter of 2010.

With this contract, the order backlog for the Punj Lloyd Group on a consolidated basis has gone up to Rs 29,256 crore.
