R-Power posts 5% drop in net; R-Infra reports flat profit

R-Infra's total income rose to Rs 4,788 cr from Rs 4,218 cr in the year-ago period

Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Power Limited has posted a five per cent drop in its net profit at Rs 254 crore for the October-December quarter. Another group company - Reliance Infrastructure - reported a flat profit at Rs 452 crore. The total income came in 14 per cent up at Rs 4,788 crore against Rs 4,218 crore a year ago.

Reliance Power's total income for the quarter came in at Rs 1,827 crore against Rs 1,484 crore a year ago.

Operating revenues stood at Rs 1,732 crore, up from Rs 1,373 crore.

The 600-MW Butibori Power plant in Maharashtra operated at a PLF of 73.47 per cent and availability of 95.2 per cent.

The company, in a press statement, said the 3,960 MW Sasan Ultra Mega Power project in Madhya Pradesh has become operational and the 20 million tonne per annum coal mine is already operational. Sasan project is the world's largest integrated coal mine and power project.

During the quarter, 100 MW concentrated solar power (CSP) project at Dhursar, Rajasthan, commenced power generation.

On the other hand, the net profit for Reliance Infrastructure came in flat at Rs 452 crore against Rs 450 crore in the corresponding quarter the previous year.

Mumbai Metro and Cement incurred a loss of Rs 54 crore and Rs 58 crore, respectively, during the quarter.

During the quarter, the company added 13,700 new consumers in Mumbai taking its total consumer tally to 29.4 lakh. In Delhi, the compay added 50,400 new consumers taking the total numbers to 35.4 lakh.

The company also commissioned its WRSS project in Maharashtra and Parbati Koldam transmission project in Himachal Pradesh. All projects, it said would be revenue operational shortly.

In its EPC business, the company clocked a revenue of Rs 741 crore with an order book of Rs 5,705 crore as on December 31, 2014.

While the cement business earned revenue of Rs 158 crore during the quarter, infrastructure business earned revenue of Rs 155 crore against Rs 140 crore over corresponding quarter of previous year with 10 out of 11 road projects generating revenue.
