National Thermal Power Corporation(NTPC) Talcher Thermal recorded the highest ever annual generation in the last financial year by achieving 3734.74 Million Units (MU) with 92.68 per cent plant load factor (PLF).
This is the highest generation recorded at this plant since the inception in 1968. The Station also recorded the highest monthly generation and PLF in March 2009.
With this achievement the Station has become one among the top ten performers in NTPC Stations all across the country, and the first in the Eastern Region of the company.
When the Talcher Thermal was taken over by NTPC from the erstwhile Orissa State Electricity Boad(OSEB) in 1995, the PLF was around 19 per cent.
The station has also bagged Pollution Control Excellence Award constituted by Orissa State Pollution Control Board in the last financial year.
