International luxury hotel chain Renaissance Hotels today announced the launch of their maiden hotel in Lucknow.

The hotel is targetting the rising number of business travellers and corporate conferences in Lucknow and adjoining towns, including Kanpur.

Renaissance is also exploring the future business opportunities in other major towns of Uttar Pradesh such as Kanpur and Varanasi to launch new hotels, although nothing has been finalised as yet.

"We are exploring the opportunities in UP and are looking for the right mix of location and partners," Marriott senior director (hotel development) India & Indian subcontinent Dhruv Hoon told the media this evening.

Meanwhile, Marriott International COO Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China) Rajeev Menon said Lucknow had good potential for the hospitality industry going forward, which the company wanted to leverage. "Lucknow is fast emerging as a cultural and business hub in UP and makes for the perfect location for a Renaissance hotel."

Situated near the banks of Gomti, the hotel comprises 16 floors and 112 rooms and suites, spread over 26,000 sq ft.
