The Qantas A-380 engine failure could have reverberations in India, with at least two foreign carriers planning to launch superjumbo flights to Delhi next year. They include Emirates, whose maiden A-380 flight between Dubai and Delhi was in mid-July, and Lufthansa, which is awaiting government permission.

Indian carrier Kingfisher Airlines will wait for the accident report before taking any action on its A-380 orders with Airbus. “Our orders are a long way off — from 2014 onwards. But we will wait for the report on the accident,” said a Kingfisher executive, who did not wish to be named. In India, only Delhi’s Terminal-3 can handle superjumbos.
