''The project engineering, procurement and contracting activities have been completed. Construction activities are progressing rapidly to meet pre-commissioning requirements.'', the company said in a press statement.
The company has mobilised sufficient resources to sustain pre-commissioning and commissioning activities on fast track and expects to complete the refinery ahead of its initial schedule of December 2008, the statement said.
The refinery will have crude processing capacity of 5,80,000 barrels per stream day and it will be the sixth largest refinery in the world.
Alongside the greenfield petroleum refinery, the company is also putting up a polypropylene plant at the SEZ complex.
Reliance Petroleum is a subsidiary of Reliance Industries , the largest private sector company in the country.
