Metal production at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) grew by over 3 per cent in the April-December period of the current fiscal compared with the previous year.
In the April-December period, RSP made 1.76 million tonne (mt) of hot metal, 1.64 mt of crude steel and 1.57 mt of saleable steel, thereby registering improvements of 3.7 per cent , 3.1 per cent and 3.9 per cent respectively, over the corresponding period a year back. In key techno-economic parameters such as coke rate, blast furnace productivity and specific energy consumption the steel plant recorded the best ever April-December performance.
