Seer Akademi USA Inc, a player in engineering education and incubation promotion, has entered into a joint venture (JV) partnership with Bangalore-based Jain Group of Institutions (JGI Group) to set up an advanced electronics lab and incubation centre in Bangalore this year.
“We are targeting to incubate 100 start-ups from the Bangalore incubation facility by 2015,” Srikanth Jadcherla, chairman and chief executive of Seer Akademi told mediapersons here on Thursday.
Under the partnership, a 300-acre campus will be developed in Bangalore with an investment of $15 million, which will house research labs, training centres and an incubation facility. The lab, which will be operational in August 2012, will offer programmes in electronics and computer engineering disciples such as VLSI (very large-scale integration), embedded systems, telecom, solar PV (photovoltaic) and advanced software engineering.
“According to the department of electronics and Indian Semiconductor Association's estimates, the country will face around 2.8-million manpower shortage in the electronics segment by 2020,” he said.
Seer has already incubated 11 start-ups in the last two years, he said, adding that the company had partnered Hyderabad-based JNTU and Gujarat University to promote research and entrepreneurship, and promote product development in the electronics sector.
