With a registered user base of more than 1.4 million in India and overseas, the software provides interesting features such as spell-checker for 9 languages, unicode fonts, word processor, data conversion tools and 3-D text effect.
 
MN Cooper, chairman, Modular Infotech, which has developed Shree-Lipi, said, "We are the largest player in the Indian language editing software sector with the biggest ever font bank with us. We have also added a large number of plug-ins that work with popular softwares like Adobe InDesign, PageMaker, Quark Express, CorelDraw and many more."

The company management expressed concerns over heavy piracy eating into its business. "Our estimates have shown that the number of people using pirated version of Shree-Lipi are three times more than the registered users. It's high time that governments takes "piracy control measures" seriously," said Modular Infotech Joint Managing Director R R Joshi. He stated that DTP sector, newspapers, corporate offices and government sector would remain the prime client base for Shree-Lipi 7.1.
