SHV Energy Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the $19-billion Dutch business group SHV Holdings NV, is firming up plans to scale up its exclusive 'High Drive' auto LPG dispensing stations network across the country.
 
The Hyderabad-headquartered company, known for its 'Super Gas' brand in India, at present has 5 High Drive stations in Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
 
It plans to have 60 such stations across the country via the franchisee route by the end of 2008, VN Diwakar, vice-president (business development and special projects), SHV Energy, told mediapersons here on Friday.
 
SHV Energy's s first auto LPG station was opened in August 2007, at Karimnagar in Andhra Pradesh. Two more such stations will be commissioned at Nellore and Hyderabad in the state by next month.
 
"Our initial focus will be on Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh, where we have storage infrastructure facilities at Porbandar and Visakhapatnam. In the first phase of expansion, we will be having 11 to 12 more auto LPG stations in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh by this fiscal end. We will expand to Punjab, Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh in the second phase," he said.
 
According to estimates, the LPG market in India is currently pegged at 11 million tonne, and is growing at 5 per cent annually. Of this, 2 lakh tonne cater to the automotive segment.
 
SHV Energy, which also distributes propane and butane products, operates in the non-subsidised segment, which is 8 per cent of the total market size in the country, serving the industrial and commercial LPG segment. It currently has an annual turnover of about Rs 525 crore.
