Sistema Shyam TeleServices, on Wednesday, said that it has received its third carrier (block 3 of 1.25MHz of spectrum) in the 800 Mhz spectrum band from the Department of Telecom (DoT).

This would help the company in launching its proposed Revision B (Phase II) services, Sistema Shyam teleservices, which operates under MTS brand name, said in a statement.

On October 3, the company had also received Unified License, valid for 20 years. Last month, its chief executive officer Dmitry Shukov had said in an interview to Business Standard that the Revision B (Phase II) would offer long-term evolution (LTE) like experience to consumers.

“It would enable SSTL to provide its customers with the next generation Revision B Phase II telecom services across all its circles. Looking ahead, our plan is to acquire at least 5MHz of contiguous spectrum within the 800MHz spectrum band,” he said in a statement today.

In March 2013, the company had acquired three carriers of 1.25MHz of fresh spectrum each in eight circles —Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Kolkata, Tamil Nadu, UP (West) and West Bengal. It already has 3.75MHz of spectrum in Rajasthan circle.
