Czech car maker Skoda Auto is bullish on the Punjab market and expects that in the current year, Punjab’s contribution to the total sales in the country would grow two-three per cent.

Last year, Skoda clocked total sales volume of 15,500 units and expects to grow 15-20 per cent this year.

“Punjab holds a great significance for Skoda India and has been one of the top contributors to the overall business. In 2014, it contributed around 7-8 per cent of the total sales. This year, we expects that it will contribute around 10 per cent to the national sales on account of improved marketing sentiments," said Ashutosh Dixit, director-sales, marketing and service, Skoda Auto India.

Skoda has five dealership in Punjab spread across Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala.

He said, “Overall market looks better for us as compared to last year. The first quarter of the current financial year would be more or less same compared to the last year. However, things will start improving from the second quarter of the current year.”

Commenting upon the outlook, he added, " Overall market looks better for us as compared to last year. The first quarter of the current year would be more or less same compared to the last year. However, things will start improving from the second quarter of the current year."
