Solar Semiconductor Private Limited at the Fab City has flagged off its first export consignment of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to Germany. This also marks the start of commercial production activity at the Fab City, which is promoted by the Andhra Pradesh government.
Company director SSN Prasad said the first phase of the greenfield project, which started in May 2008, had been completed. Solar has invested about Rs 200 crore in the first phase. It has a 120Mw module production capacity and 60 Mw for solar cells production. It will invest another Rs 400 crore for module line expansion, cell line expansion and thin film production.
