South accounts for 39% of Airtel's Hello Tune subscriptions

South India has contributed 39 per cent to cellular operator Airtel’s total Hello Tune subscriptions in the country with over 47 million downloads this year, with Andhra Pradesh accounting for 31 per cent of this, according to an Airtel survey.

The findings of this year’s Airtel Mobitude, an annual survey reflecting the mobile attitude of the Indian masses, stated mobile internet usage is increasing fast in south India and data consumption per subscriber is higher in the region as compared with west and east India.

Also, a large number of customers are now increasingly using their mobile devices to stay connected to their devotional side. Ramzan was of the most celebrated occasions with a large number of devotees accessing live feeds from Mecca and Haji Ali and subscribing to the Namaz Sheri and Iftar alerts on their mobile, the report said.

Telugu songs ‘Idhedho Bagundhe’, ‘Nesthama Nesthama’ and ‘Darlingey’ trended not only as the most-subscribed Telugu Hello Tune but were also among the top-10 Hello Tunes nationally. While Telugu actors Venkatesh and Allu Aurjun featured among the top-5 actors in the male category for popular downloads, Tamannaah and Ileana trended in the female category.

Hyderabad-based tennis player Sania Mirza and shuttler Saina Nehwal bowled out Indian cricket team skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh – from the top-5 slots of the most downloaded sports star.
