Sri City, an integrated business city consisting of a special economic zone, domestic tariff area and a free trade warehousing zone, on Friday launched ready-built factories (RBF) at the Japanese enclave targeting Japanese SMEs. About 14 Japanese companies, mostly into engineering and auto component manufacturing, have already established their base in this enclave.

“The RBF’s will be in sizes of 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 sft. In the first phase, we have built two RBFs. Plans are afoot to set up 20 RBFs in the next two years spread over 20 acres. With RBFs any unit can be operational in 4-5 months," Ravindra Sannareddy, managing director of Sri City stated in a release.

“Over 150 acres in the 300-acre Japanese Enclave has been allocated to the existing Japanese customers and we are contemplating to increase the size of the enclave to 500 acres,” he said.

“This ensures quicker delivery time, lesser approvals, minimal paper work, adequate power and water, which is definitely good for the customer. This helps MSME reduce capital costs since RBF can be leased on monthly rentals, said Shinya Fujii, director general of Japanese External Trade Organisation (Jetro), India.

Sri City at Tada in Nellore district has come up in functional partnership with the Andhra Pradesh government.
