The Sun TV Network is restructuring its distribution business into two new divisions (‘verticals’). One will handle South India operations and international business. The second will focus on expanding the Sun TV bouquet into the northern, western and eastern markets of India.

The Chennai-based television network has appointed Mohammed Mujeebuddin and Jawed Akthar to head the two units.

Mujeebuddin will head the South India and International operations. His last assignment was with STAR DEN Media Services. Akthar will head the North, East and Western India operations. He was associated with the STAR group for 13 years, where he was Executive Vice President, Distribution, managing their all-India cable distribution business. In an announcement to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company said the aim is to distribute the Sun television channels in India and internationally via all fixed networks, including cable, DTH, IPTV, HITS and MMDS.

Kalanidhi Maran, chairman and managing director, said the restructuring was an important initiative, with the “vision of better leveraging of our very successful television brands across the country and internationally”.
