Soft skills trainer TalentSprint today entered into a partnership with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to help make engineering students become employable.
"Despite three million students, in the country, passing out every year from the engineering colleges, 80% are still unemployable", TalentSpring CEO and Managing Director Santanu Paul told reporters here.
Through the partnership TalentSpring would receive Rs 10 crore as a loan to set up 15 urban centres and 13 remote centres, to train the students passing out of engineering colleges, while NSDC would take a 6% stake in TalentSprint, he said.
The Chennai centre that was inaugurated today has a capacity of training 1,000 students every year.
TalentSprint would concentrate on developing infrastructure and setting up remote learning centres so that students in tier II and III cities also become employable, Paul said.
"Our vision is to train five lakh students in the next 10 years", he said.
TalentSprint had set up their first training centre in Hyderabad a year ago and have trained 1,200 professionals who have got job opportunities in various IT firms, Paul said.
NSDC Chairman and former Group Chairman of the $3 billion Murugappa, M V Subbiah said they have tied up with many companies besides TalentSpring.
