Tata Motors, which makes both commercial vehicles and passenger cars, including the ultra-cheap Nano, reported a 23 per cent surge in its September vehicles sales at 64,668 units. For corresponding period, last year it sold 52,513 units.
There was a 20 per cent increase in its domestic sales at 59,611 units as compared to 49,650 last year. The increase was seen in the sales of commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles as well at 14 per cent (35,734 units) and 23 per cent (25,527 units) respectively. It is to be noted that the passenger vehicles sales figure do not include the luxury Jaguar, Land Rover brands it makes in Britain.
Exports surged by 77 per cent to 5,057 units as against 2,863 units in September 2009. 5,520 Nano cars were also sold in September 2010.
