Tata Power adds 85,000 low-end customers
The company has a little over four lakh consumers in city. Low-end power consumers use less than 300 units per month
Katya B Naidu Mumbai Tata Power today said that it has added around 85,000 low-end power consumers into its Mumbai distribution network, in the last one year.
The company has a little over four lakh consumers in the city. Low-end power consumers use less than 300 units per month.
The state electricity regulator MERC had earlier directed the company to pay cross-subsidy surcharge to its rival distributor, Reliance Infrastructure.
This was to make up for any price escalation RInfra’s consumers have to face, if more commercial establishments move away to the rival. Commercial establishments pay higher power rates, which effectively subsidises low-end customers.
