The Telangana government is proposing to register a new public limited company, Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation Limited (TSTDC), under the Companies Act 2013, according to BP Acharya, principal secretary, tourism and cultural department.

The existing Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), which is in Schedule IX of Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act 2014, is required to be bifurcated at the earliest so as to continue uninterrupted services to the tourists and also for promotion of tourism activities in the state, he said.

“Necessary provisional arrangements for bifurcation of staff, office space etc had already been done and the new corporation for Telangana could be operational immediately after the registration of the new company,” he added.

Meanwhile, considering the importance of ‘Bathukamma Panduga’, an important festival celebrated across Telangana, the government has decided to declare it as a state festival.
