TiECon expo in the Silicon Valley to focus on Indian startups

TiEcon will be held from May 15 to May 17 at Santa Clara

Enthused by the success of Indian startups like Redbus, SnapDeal, BigBasket, Quickr and others, TiECon2014, the global entrepreneurs conference in Silicon Valley, organised by the Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), is trying to attract more startups for its startup showcase from here. TiEcon, the entrepreneurs' flagship conference of all TiE chapters in the world numbering 60, will be held from May 15 to May 17 at Santa Clara.

The keynote speakers for the conference include, Steve Mollenkopf, CEO of Qualcomm, Jim Whitehurst, president and CEO of Red Hat, Romesh T Wadhwani, founder, chairman and CEO of Symphony Technology Group, and Shahid Khan, president of Flex-N-Gate Corp and owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Incidentally, two Bangalore-based entrepreneurs B V Jagadeesh and Pradip Madan are the conveners for the conference.

The conference will address some of the industry's hottest topics, including cloud infrastructure, big data and the Internet of Things. The second day will focus on providing entrepreneurs with insights on the best practices for starting, funding, building, growing and creating long-term value in start-ups. In addition, there will be tracks on TiE Youth, Health Care IT, Professional Services, and Impact Investing.

"For over 20 years, TiEcon has showcased some of the most successful companies around the world and brought together the entire ecosystem of entrepreneurship including venture capitalists, thought leaders, successful entrepreneurs as well as aspiring entrepreneurs," according to Venktesh Shukla, president of TiE, Silicon Valley. "Once again, TiEcon will feature the most significant people and companies discussing the most significant issues in the hottest areas of innovation."

With a view to attracting the Indian startups, TiECon has come out with a package for as little as $500 for a booth at the expo. Though this offer is for those who have exhibited earlier, applied for funding at TiE Angels or TiE50 finalists and Launchpad companies, it is extended to Indian startups to attract them and showcase to the US investors and attendees, Anjul Katare, chair for TiEExpo, said.
