Titan Eye Plus, the eyewear division of Titan Industries Limited, on Thursday launched Vision Check – a self-administered online vision test facility.

Vision Check is a convenient tool for millions of people who can avail themselves of vision-screening test absolutely free of cost while they are at home or in office. With a user-friendly interface, Vision Check includes a general screening test and accurately establishes the need for vision correction for the participant if required, Bhaskar Bhat, Managing Director, Titan Industries Ltd said after the launch, here.

To take the test, participants have to visit the Titan Eye Plus website at www.titaneyeplus.com.

WHO estimates that 3.3 billion people globally need vision correction. Of these 670 million have a form of visual impairment, which can be corrected by prescription eyewear. In India 456 million people need vision correction. The major cause for this large figure is access to a Vision Testing Facility or hesitation in getting a test done, he said.

Commenting on latest innovation, Ravi Kant, CEO, Eyewear division, Titan Industries Ltd said, “Roughly one third of the people in the country need vision correction. Of this only 25-30 per cent have taken necessary steps to correct the same. The others are ignoring and living with this problem and many more are not even aware of having an eye problem. With the launch of Vision Check, we are making it convenient and taking eye testing to people’s homes to help break the inertia.”

Titan Eye Plus offers free zero error eye test facility for consumers inside the store by employing optometrists specially trained by Sankara Nethralaya.

“The launch of Vision Check is a benchmark of innovation and an extension to our offering to provide convenience to millions of people who don’t find time to visit their nearest optical store,” Ravi Kant said.

The Vision Check test takes about 5 minutes for administering and can be taken by anybody above the age of 6 years. This new initiative is in addition to various eye screening and testing camps conducted by Titan Eye Plus on a regular basis across corporates, housing societies, schools and colleges in the country.
