The new centres will also offer a 12-month 'Advanced Diploma in Digital Arts and Animation' course in addition to short-term courses. Toonz existing centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Nagpur, already offer the course.

More academies are planned this year in cities like Bangalore, Chennai and Coimbatore, he said. The academy also plans to start a three-year degree course in animation by the next academic year.

According to Ramaprasad, executive director, Toonz Academy, "the opening of the two new centres have enabled the academy to reinforce its commitment to contribute well-trained professionals to the animation industry. Our close association with the production house, Toonz Animation, helps us to tailor-make the course curriculum with more industry insights, which in turn helps our students to explore lucrative careers with ease."

The diploma is awarded in association with the European Carolus Magnus University, Belgium, which fulfils the requirements of a European vocational qualification and career development.

The Toonz Academy now plans to foray into China, West Asia and Africa, Ramaprasad added.
