Top construction companies in the country are in the race to bag Rs 9,000-crore deal for constructing All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital here.
Sources in state's health department said that five construction companies had qualified for the project in the technical and financial bid. After the approval from the ministry of health, the contract would be awarded in the first week of April, sources said.
Of the companies that qualified the bid include Nagarjuana Constructions, Ahluwalia Constructions, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited, Shapoorji Pallonji and IVRCL. Sources said the company filing the lowest bid had been short-listed and the file had been sent to the ministry for approval.
The hospital at Raipur will be one of the eight referral hospitals on the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) that the ministry of health would be setting up across the country. The 960-bed hospital will provide healthcare facilities in 39 speciality or super-speciality disciplines.
The project would be coming up in a sprawling 200- acre land in Tatibandh area here. Of the total area, the hospital would be set up in 40 acres. The state government provided the land for the project.
