PC monitor manufacturer TPV India today announced its foray in the Indian LCD TV market and said it will target tier II and II towns to sell about one lakh units this year.

TPV India, which currently sells PC monitors in India under the brand name 'AOC', will market its LCD TVs by the same brand name in the Rs 13,000-40,000 price range.

"Our target is not the metros like Delhi, which focusses more on brand names. Our LCD TVs are of the same superior quality as the other brands, but we would focus on the tier II and II towns, as we believe we would be better placed there," TPV Technology Group Director Mukesh Gupta told reporters here.

The company expects to sell about one lakh LCD TV units by December-end, he added.

TPV India is a part of TPV Technology Ltd, which is listed on the Hong Kong and Singapore stock exchanges.

TPV would import the LCD TVs from its manufacturing units in China, Poland, Brazil and Mexico.

The Indian LCD market size is estimated to be about 1.2 million units, but the segment is witnessing huge growth with increasing spend on electronics.

"We would look at incorporating the company in India and then by the third quarter of 2010, we would look at manufacturing in India," Gupta said. He, however, did not divulge the details of the proposed plant.

The company has also introduced a new range of All-in- Ones (desktop computers that combine the monitor and the CPU together) in the price range of Rs 22,000-50,000.
