With the Tier II and Tier III cities holding promises for the corporates to spread their operations, dearth of skilled manpower poses a big challenge in accomplishing the ambition.
Sensing the skill gap between the prospective employer and productive employee, many staffing and training companies are knocking doors in non-metro cities seeing skill training as a good business opportunity.
Professionals from the staffing and training companies maintain that altho-ugh there is no dearth of manpower in non-metro cities, there is a shortage of skilled manpower required by the prospective employer.
They added that the corporate sector required skilled manpower and this was where the training and staffing solution companies were trying to pitch in.
Managing Director of Total Resource Academy of India (Train) operating under Total Solutions Incorporated (TSI) Kapil Malhotra maintained demand of competent manpower by the prospective employers held promise for the staffing and training solution companies to expand their operations in non-metro cities as well.
CEO of i360 staffing and training solutions Deepanshu Khurana said the dearth of skilled manpower was creating under-employment rather than unemployment. i360 staffing and training solution company that opened its office in Mohali today already has seven centres in different parts across Punjab and plans to have 50 centres across the country by 2010.
Khurana maintained the companies whether in retail sector, finance or other sectors were facing shortage of skilled manpower and training companies like i360 tried to bridge the skill gap between required and available skill power.
He added that since most of the companies themselves found it arduous to train the manpower, they relied more on outsourcing.
After understanding the requirement of the organisations and capabilities of students, I360 is focusing on offering complete employability solutions to its stud-ents.
Similarly Sudeep Madhok, Director Sulph Hospitality Solution, another recruitment and training company, maintained the manpower availability was there in the region but only it is the demand of skill required by the prospective employers that needs to be addressed to.
He added Sulph Hospitality Solution was trying to address to the skilled manpower requirement of hospitality industry by imparting training to the students.
Pune based Global Talent Track (GTT) that opened its office in Chandigarh last year had also announced intention of opening more Global Educentre centre’s in Punjab region in coming years. Global Talent Track (GTT) which specializes in providing employability skills to undergraduates seeking employment in the technology industry had announced plans to groom around 5,000 students from Punjab region who are seeking employment in IT industry.
