TVS Motor Ltd to start production in Himachal

The new unit of TVS Motor Company Ltd at Nalagarh (Himachal Pradesh) will function soon.
 
The company is expecting to produce 300,000 units per annum at the new plant, and is targeting to strengthen its presence in the economy segment bikes with the launch of the electric start version of its existing 100 CC motorcycle, "TVS Star City," in the festival season.
 
Moreover, the company will also produce engine oil, under the brand name "TVS TRU-4," in the domestic market shortly. The upcoming plant will be the company's first unit in northern region and the third in the country.
 
At present, it has manufacturing facility at Hosur (Tamil Nadu) and Mysore. It manufactures 1,35,000 bikes per annum.
 
Speaking to Business Standard, General Manager (Sales) Ashesh Dhar said, "The new unit at Nalagarh will be operational very soon."
 
He said: "Punjab is a big market for the company. The two-wheeler market in India is growing at the rate of 12 per cent per annum. But in Punjab, we are growing 21 per cent annually. During the period April-August this year, we have achieved a growth rate of 300 per cent as compared to the corresponding period last year in Punjab."
