The city-based company had sold 1,76,012 units during the same month of 2012, TVS Motor said in a statement.
The company registered 8% dip in total two-wheeler sales at 1,59,346 units in May 2013 as against 1,73,092 units recorded in the same month of previous year.

However, the company said during May 2013 sales of motorcycles grew by 3.85% to 66,606 units from 64,134 units sold in May 2012 while sales of scooters slipped to 33,747 units from 38,833 units.
In the overseas market, the company registered a 6.9% growth in sales to 24,393 units last month from 22,817 units in the year-ago period.
Exports of two-wheelers declined to 19,290 units from 21,112 units.
The company said sales of its three-wheelers grew by 98.8% to 5,805 units from 2,920 units.
