UB launches T20 football

As part of a brand building exercise, McDowell's Celebration, one of the fastest growing brands of United Spirits Limited, has launched ‘Futsal Friendzy’, a national tournament based on the popular T20 format.

An indoor version of football, Futsal will be played between teams of five players one of whom will be the goalkeeper. Futsal will be played on a smaller area with a smaller ball with less bounce than regular football. McDowell's Futsal Friendzy will be held over 45 days, across Kolkata, Mumbai, Jaipur, Bangalore and Kochi.

The tournament kicked off in Kolkata, with an exhibition match between the McDowell Mohun Bagan and the East Bengal team. According to Kaushik Chatterjee, Chief Operating Officer - East, United Spirits Limited, "McDowell's Celebration has a long standing association with Football as the principal sponsor of the Mohun Bagan Club. The winners will be coached into the Mohun Bagan academy.”
