The Vijay Mallya-controlled UB group and Shaw Wallace Distilleries (SWC) are weighing the option of acquiring Ahmednagar-based Chitali Distillery.
The distillery, which is operated as a division of the Western Maharashtra Development Corporation(WMDC), was put on the block after the state government decided to divest its interests from non-core public sector undertakings.
Chitali Distillery was referred to the Maharashtra Board for Restructuring State Enterprises (MBRSE), which approved the sell off plans.
