| Net sales rose by 60 per cent to Rs 1,260.45 crore against Rs 788.57 crore during the period. |
| The continued robust performance is on the back of the company's higher volumes and capacity utilisation. Efforts to neutralise the escalating energy costs per tonne and better domestic as well as export realisation have altogether contributed to push the sales up during the quarter. |
| The company registered a rise of 15 per cent in its cement sales to 4.5 million tonne from 3.9 million tonne in the period under review. The December 2006 quarter saw an improvement in the company's effective cement capacity utilisation to 103 per cent from 88 per cent. |
| The domestic sales realisation grew by around 50 per cent during the previous quarter. Increase in variable cost per tonne was restricted to 5 per cent through a change in power sources and better consumption norms, the company said in a statement. |
| The company's captive power plants near its units in Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh are expected to be commissioned in 2008. Once operational, the power costs will further reduce. |
| The company is also increasing capacity in its Andhra Pradesh plant to meet the growing demand in the southern part of the country. |
| The net sales of the company for the first three quarters of the current financial year grew to Rs 3,445.31 crore against Rs 2,222 crore, up 55 per cent. Net profit during the same period also increased by over five-and-a-half times to Rs 550.74 crore from Rs 83.96 crore. |
| UltraTech currently has a capacity of 17 million tonne a year. With its brownfield expansion of 4 million tonne in Andhra Pradesh, the total capacity will be catapulted to 21 million tonne in 2008-09. At present, the company has a 10 per cent share in the domestic market. |
| The 160 million tonne cement industry is in the process of adding up 75 million tonne fresh capacity by 2009-10. |
