Umang Vohra, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Dr Reddy's Laboratories Limited (DRL) has been appointed as executive vice president and head of North America Generics Business of the company. Saumen Chakraborty who is currently the president and global head of Quality, HR and IT & Business Process Excellence at the company has been appointed as the chief financial officer(CFO).
Their new appointments will come into effect from January next year, said Dr Reddy's in a press release on Tuesday.
Joined Dr Reddy's in 2002 from PepsiCo, Vohra has been a part of several key initiatives in the areas of acquisitions, R&D de-risking of transactions, and operational improvements in accounting , governance and finance processes, according to the company.
He has now been entrusted with the North American generics business, which constitutes over 40 per cent of the global revenues, after the previous head of North America Generics Business Amit Patel moved out of the company a few months ago. Abhijit Mukherjee, the head of global generics business continue to be the overall in charge of the global business operations at Dr Reddy's. With change in his role Vohra will eventually move to the US , a company official said.
For Saumen Chakraborty, this is going to be the second stint at Dr Reddy's as the CFO. Joined the company in 2001 as Global chief of Human Resources, Chakraborty took over the role as the CFO in 2006 and later as president of corporate and global generics operations in 2009, according to the press release. Before joining the company he worked at various roles at CMC, C-DOT, Eicher, Tecumseh.
